MASSIVE-ASS KARAOKE RAGER!!

Dearest friends, family, and random TMTTV viewers we've picked up along the way . . .

Meg and Rahul will be setting foot on US soil for the first time since January, and we've decided to throw ourselves a little welcome-home party (even though we're setting off again 10 days later). Sooooo . . .

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 27TH, 2005, NEW YORK CITY WILL HOST THE MASSIVE-ASS KARAOKE RAGER YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL YEAR.

We're in the process of choosing a Manhattan location that can contain our rampant absurdity and off-key crooning. But before we can make a decision, we need to know how many of you crazy caterwaulers are gonna be there. Anybody who's reading this is invited. That goes for friends, family, and people we've never met who've somehow stumbled upon our little blog. The only 2 requirements are that you come prepared to sing and you wear some kind of funny head-gear (hats, wigs, pets, food items . . .)

So, go ahead and click on "Comments" below (not the envelope/pencil thingy, but the word "comment" itself) and tell us whether you're in or out. Hit us with your name, your email address (if you don't think we have it), and a song you plan to sing.

Stay tuned for further details.

Hi! My name is Meg. I'm a karaoke addict. I'll be at the Massive-Ass Karaoke Rager in the NYC on Aug. 27, wearing at least 5 kinds of bizarre international headgear and singing "The Thong Song.:

Hi Meg! My name is Rahul. I'm also a karaoke addict, and I too will be at the Massive-Ass Karaoke Rager. I'll be wearing strange African tribal wigs and singing "18 and Life" by Skid Row.

See y'all there!

Thrice have I had the privilege - no, the HONOR - of joining Meg and Rahul in a massive karaoke rager (four times if you count the last 20 miles of the 2004 MS150). The feeling of euphoria that overcomes your when belting out GnR or Bonnie Tyler with your friends is so primal that you just know we are all decendants of early humans who must have sung along to primitive lyrics drawn on cave walls (lots of songs about hunting bison back then). And those Neanderthals who didn't enjoy the experience most certainly never got any and were subsequently weeded out of the human gene pool in no time.

Unfortunately, I will be in the Bahamas embarking on my own journey around the world that day, so I cannot make it. But I assure you a photo that iconically states "Rico is unhappy to miss the Karaoke Rager 2005" will be taken in the near future. Everyone else, however, has no excuse not to be there.

I'm confused...do you have to have a "massive" ass to come to the karaoke rager? What about us skinny white boys? I would describe my ass as "supple yet fulfilling"...does that count? Can someone help a brother out? Can I get a what, what?

Still looking for my red-white-and-blue headband, but I'll be honoring the east coast with a little of the Boss. Either that, or some Bust-A-Move with a tale for all the fellas, try to do what those ladies tell us, get shot down cuz we're over zealous, play hard to get females get jealous.

Oh yes...Dunny is right... I practice every day... and I realized that it sounds so much better while I shower... too bad the shower doesn't fit in my carry on.

Woohoo! I cannot wait--I am so in for the Meg & Rahul blow-out event in the Big Apple!!! If they're lucky, my back-up singers (aka, Michael and my sister) may come as well.

However, after attending a karaoke event earlier this summer where I witnessed the singing of "Easy Like Sunday Morning" by a karaoke novice, may I recommend sticking to more lively songs for this very festive event? I like the songs I see suggested above--you can never go wrong with GnR or the Flashdance soundtrack (I think I literally wore that tape out by overplaying it as a child!)!

Can't wait to see you all, and especially the guests of honor/hosts, in August! Thanks for organizing this, Meg and Rahul! XO to you both-

See you soon,

the whole pearson family in NYC? I'm there! and i will be singing 'baby got back'!! (cause i like big butts, and i cannot lie. i also do a mean MC Hammer dance...but those lyrics just arent as good.)

ps- phil keeps yelling at me for calling it a 'karaoke-fest', because that clearly doesn't describe the full extent of this gathering.

i'm planning on shaking my massive ass on the tables. Singing will depend on the amount of alcohol consumed.

Mommacita and Daderoo will definitely be there! After reading all the comments, I am even more intimidated. I have to confess that on the way home from Waxahachie the other day, I was surfing all the stations between Buffalo, TX and Huntsville (home of the TX Dept of Corrections), and thinking about whether each song would be appropriate for John and me to "sing" on Aug 27. We still have a month.....Can't wait to see all of you!!

We'll be singing "Country Road" by John Denver. No flatulent camels or sand dunes this time around, but Meg and Rahul are enough inspiration for us. -Leela and Sam

Bush goes ballistic about other countries being evil and dangerous, because they have weapons of mass destruction. But, he insists on building up even a more deadly supply of nuclear arms right here in the US. What do you think? What is he doing to us, and what is he doing to the world?
Our country is in debt until forever, we don't have jobs, and we live in fear. We have invaded a country and been responsible for thousands of deaths.
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!
